Michael Spiroff was born and raised in Toronto, where he began studying piano at the age of four. Throughout his schooling he studied viola, voice, jazz saxophone, and musical theatre. Michael began composing during high school, having acquired a breadth of knowledge and experience in a variety of musical styles.

During his Grade 11 year, Michael was asked by the drama department at Leaside High School to compose an original piano score for the full-length play “Sixteen in 10 Minutes or Less” by Bradley Hayward. He performed the score himself live at Leaside High School; the first public performance of his work. Since then, Michael has composed a variety of works including string quartet, chorale, songs, various chamber pieces, and incidental music. He has recently completed his second year of his Bachelor of Music degree at the Mannes School of Music in New York City. In addition to composing, Michael is a skilled accompanist, and teaches piano and guitar.
